It was back in January 2018 when Siouxzie and Scott approached Becky from Madeira Weddings about planning their wedding in Madeira. They had fallen in love with the idea of getting married on the smaller island of Porto Santo with sand between their toes. So the planning started and the date set for October 2018.
Trying to get the balance of a beach wedding yet still with some privacy from tourists in speedo's, they chose a great beach restaurant called Pe Na Agua which has its own sandy front and views over the ocean. With their guest numbers they were able to book the restaurant exclusively for the whole day and evening party.
Fresh flowers were delivered from Madeira and Siouxzie being a florist back in the UK did her magic to create the vision she wanted.
All their guests were staying at nearby hotels and so they organised an open top bus to collect everyone and bring them to the venue. Siouxzie then arrived in a Mini Moke with her sister.
With a rustic beach arch to set the theme of their Ceremony, Siouxzie then walked down the aisle to marry her best friend. A few happy tears and lots of laughs were had through the Ceremony and after Scott had kissed his Bride, they both danced down the aisle for a drink.
Guests were treated to canapés and drinks while Scott and Siouxzie span off in the Mini Moke for photos. Porto Santo may be small, but it has some great landscapes for dramatic photos.
The Wedding Dinner was served in the restaurant giving everyone some much needed shade. They chose a very traditional Portuguese menu and had decorated the restaurant with hand made bunting and lots of sparkles. There was a screen showing photos of the happy couple and then as a surprise, a video was shown from Siouxzie’s brother who was unable to make the wedding.
Now for the party!! Daniel from XEvents had travelled over from Madeira to really get their party going. He had also organised sparklers for everyone and the most amazing firework display. Later in the evening the Groom Scott and a couple of his friends had allocated DJ slots where they played LP’s they had brought over from the UK. True old school :-)
The party went on into the wee hours of the morning and the next day everyone met again for a chill day on the beach, with volley ball, space hoppers and other great games.
We believe Porto Santo is a great wedding destination especially if you are after a beach wedding. We also believe it will always hold a special place in Siouxzie and Scotts hearts. Thanks Siouxzie and Scott for letting us share your story. You rock!
